In July of 2010, Hayden persuaded the trial court to grant a preliminary injunction preventing his client's adversaries from foreclosing on the intellectual property of a technology company. Hayden wins $236,000 jury verdict in defamation case:
Hayden tried a case in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Richmond Division, on behalf of the general counsel of a national publishing company on February 3rd and 4th. The jury returned a verdict in favor of his client in the amount of $236,000. The case arose from defamatory comments posted on the internet about his client by an author who disliked his client's publishing company. The case received attention in business and law journals prior to trial when the Court ruled that the defamatory statements concerned facts and not opinions.
